THE FORMULA
SOMNIL® contains 1mg of Melatonin which helps reduce the time it takes to fall asleep.
Melatonin, or sleep hormone, is a hormone produced by the pineal gland from tryptophan. It is therefore naturally present in our body and its secretion is regulated by the day/night cycle. Indeed, it is secreted during the night, generally peaking around 3am. It participates in the control and synchronization of circadian rhythms and the regulation of the day-night rhythm. It is also associated with a hypnotic effect and an increased propensity to sleep. However, the secretion of this hormone decreases with age. After the age of 50, its level is often halved compared to adolescence. Its synthesis is also disrupted in the event of long-distance travel.
EFSA and numerous clinical studies attest to the effectiveness of Melatonin supplementation in reducing the time it takes to fall asleep for a dose of 1 mg per day, and in reducing the effects of jet lag for 0.5 mg per day. The effectiveness of taking it at bedtime is felt within 30 minutes.
