This product is produced by fermentation of a yeast (a fungus), Monascus purpureus on rice. This micro-organism produces a red pigment which gave its name to the yeast. So the red yeast that is not the rice!
Properties
The red yeast rice is used by Chinese for centuries. It acts directly on the production of fat in the liver.
Indeed, the liver produces about ¾ of cholesterol in the body, then that food would bring about that shift. Thus to reduce blood cholesterol, particularly LDL cholesterol (the so-called "bad cholesterol"), it is important to act on the liver production of cholesterol. The red yeast rice is rich in substances that inhibit the synthesis of cholesterol, the "monacolines."
Use
2 to 4 capsules per day.
Targets:
- People with high cholesterol with hyperlipidaemia
- Prevention among people who have a diet too rich and too fat
A priority in case of cholesterol: Foods rich in soy protein (including soya milk) and soluble fiber from grains such as oats, barley, psyllium ...
Note: consumption of grapefruit juice can block the effectiveness of active substances of the yeast. Avoid making the drink or the food during the cure.
Against indications
- Pregnant and lactating
- Liver disease or severe renal
- Intolerance known to anti-cholesterol drug class of statins.
- By advises caution on linking the product to take statins, and although the side effects are very rare, we shall catch in case of stomach pain or muscle.
